We are looking for a part-time (22 hours per week) medical secretary to join our practice in Thomondgate Limerick to work the following hours: Mon: 2pm-5.30pm, Tues: 2pm-5.30pm, Wed: 9pm-5.30pm and Fri: 9pm-5.30pm.

Applicants must be IT literate, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be flexible, possess a “can do” attitude and be a team player. You must be able to work accurately and pay attention to detail, be able to prioritise your work load, remain calm under pressure and be flexible.

Main duties include: answering phones, dealing with urgent medical queries, dealing with patient queries both on the phone and face to face, greeting patients and checking them in, actioning prescription requests, actioning post/emails/faxes, liaising with pharmacies and other external organisations, typing letters, cash handling and other general admin duties.

The clinical system used at the practice is Socrates.

Previous experience is desired but not essential as full training can be provided.
